The Inaugural NCL Free Fitness Friday -- A Success!
Proving that anyone can
work on their fitness anywhere, NCL hosted the first Free Fitness
Friday at the Norfolk Public Library on Feb. 3rd, 2012. Sixteen
participants shed their shoes and hit the carpet for an hour long
barefoot workout, incorporating functional strength, cardio, balancing,
and yoga.
The session was conducted by two Norfolk fitness instructors, Jennifer
LaFond and Kym Peterson. The event was designed provide a warm,
nurturing and safe environment for individuals at all fitness levels.
"We believe access to organized fitness can be free. Fitness is
important to me and my family. Lisa and I wanted to offer the Norfolk
community a safe way to get started, restart, or continue a healthy
lifestyle." says Nan Hill, one of the event organizsers. She adds, "We
also wanted to teach, that with some basics, anyone can workout
anywhere. Kym and Jen did a wonderful job."
The feedback and buzz after the event was very positive. NCL hopes to add other Free Fitness Friday events to the calendar soon.
